Psychiatry With A Human Touch
Mental health is about more than medication.
Have you tried medication and / or talk therapy in the past, but things didn’t get better?
Has therapy in the past felt cookie-cutter or superficial, when you’ve wanted to go deeper?
Have you been frustrated by seeing one person for medication and a separate person for therapy, telling the same information to two different people, only to feel like they aren’t on the same page?
Are you feeling worn down by impersonal clinics where providers change frequently, it’s hard to reach a real person, and your healthcare feels rushed, fragmented, or transactional?
Is your personal story more complex than the basic treatment algorithm you’ve already tried?
If these questions resonate with you, read on:
As a doctor, a psychiatrist, a therapist, and a fellow human being, please allow me to share my guiding principles with you:
Your complexity matters: Your life is more than a list of symptoms.
Your mental health is shaped by your biology, identity, personality, culture, and lived experience — as well as by the relationships, losses, transitions, and hardships that have marked your life.
When this full story is understood and shared in the right space, with the right person, at the right time, it can open the door to lasting change.
My training, and my clinical work, connect medicine, neuroscience, and the existential elements of human experience — meaning, purpose, identity, and suffering.
Medication as a tool, not the solution. While medication is sometimes irreplaceable, it can also be over-used. When medication is necessary, my guiding principle is to use lowest effective dose for smallest possible time, while building strong mental health through talk therapy.
Depth & practicality: Blending deep, psychodynamic, and insight-oriented therapy with concrete steps, skills, and strategies toward feeling better and living fully.
You are the expert of your own life. I am here to guide you in whichever direction you seek.
Accessible care, wherever you are. In-person meetings are a welcome breath of fresh air after years of post-COVID Zooms… but I understand that everyone’s circumstances are different, and I’m pleased to be able to offer telehealth in RI, MA, and CT.
The bottom line: Therapy and medication together, tailored to your story, and provided with humanity, care, and realism.
